This page details my volunteer work with Monarch Thrift Shop. The information below explains my role within the company and how I am using my fashion education to contribute to the community.
In my roles as a merchandise stylist, I have expanded my skills in esthetics and presentation by dressing mannequins of all shapes and sizes. While picking outfits I have paid close attention to donated items to get a better understating of what people are letting go off and how that relates to the design choices like color, material, and garment style. I have also learned to be aware of how different body shapes require specific size allowance and what are the best fabrics to use for different sizes.

-
Dressing mannequins has given me the opportunity to share with other people tips on how to use the items available to come up with fun outfits.
-
Styling for the seasons has helped me give garments that are worn at certain times of the year a second chance as well as reduce textile waste.
-
Helping with the store organization allows me to create a clean and judgement free space that helps reduce the stigma around buying secondhand items that persists in the fashion world.
