The learning outcomes include creating garments with strict design constraints like a travel wear theme, sustainable materials, and functions that helped reduce anxiety, drafting patterns using Optitex software, and building a tech pack consisting of a cost sheet, garment sketches, and manufacturing instructions using Excel and Adobe Illustrator.
Tranquility
Tranquility is a menswear collection designed for the millennial man who loves to travel but struggles with anxiety. Comfort and stress relief are at the core of every piece in this collection. Through inventive design techniques and careful textile choices, these items fight anxiety at every step of the trip while in style.





Color Story

Creating a color story for a collection taught me to make choices that enhance garment pieces through a visual aesthetic that stands out while in harmony.
A luxurious and playful palette that invokes feelings of calmness using cool colors renowned for their soothing properties. Serene natural landscapes like waterfalls, the ocean, forest clearings, and pond gardens inspire the palette used for this collection.

Original Textile Patters

Designing textile pattern allowed me to use computerized design software such as Adobe Illustrator to create motifs that are unique and creative.

This pattern is inspired by the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool in Chicago, Illinois.

The use of pink, green, and blue colors aim to produce a calming feel.

The lily pads floating water create a serene image.

The vector pattern lets the wearer calm himself down by focusing on the shapes the lime green lines create.
-
Inspired by grass roots floating on water, the lines form odd shapes that help the user tune out while trying to decipher them.
Collection

Brainstorming designs with strict constraints gave me an opportunity to expand my creativity through material choices and function to build garments that are comfortable, conceptualized, and which help combat anxiety.



Overcoat
-
Under arm zippers allow air flow in an are where heat builds which helps reduce moisture and odor opportunities.

The detachable shawl provides added warmth as well as a snug feel that mimics an embrace when the user is feeling nervous.
-
Made with wool fabric and Bemberg Rayon, this coat has excellent absorption and wicking properties which aid with per spiration brought on by rising body temperature.

The colors used are inspired by water waves hitting the shore on a relaxing beach which lets the user take the beach wherever he goes.

Button Down Shirt

Silk and wool give the shirt fast drying, breathable, and soft to touch properties that increase comfort and heat regulation.

The shirt materials are lightweight and hold a luxurious hand.
-
The vector pattern gives the wear a calming visual outlet.






Sensory Relief Pants

The adjustable waistband allows the user to tighten or loosen their waist pressure depending on the mood.

repurposed novelty bracelets on each side offer sensory relief without being conspicuous in public.

Made with wool these pants are soft and antibacterial

This modular shirt allows the wearer to shift between styles depending on body temperature reducing heat.

The detachable long sleeves and collar are held in place by buttons located on the shoulders and underarms allowing for an easy switch.

The recycled army uniforms provide a cotton and nylon blend material that is lightweight, wrinkle resistant, and durable.

The lower part of the shirt is made from cotton fabric which is absorbent and breathable.

Detachable Pockets Slacks

Detachable pockets allow the wear to remove and attach pockets with ease.

User can store items and important travel documents with effortless access for peace of mind.

The pockets are made with wool which take advantage of the antibacterial properties found in the textile.

Creating a piece in this collection challenged me to bring my design to life using patterns made using Opitex software and editing any errors in the pattern pieces.
